Rubina Sidhu is a Senior Associate and Vancouver immigration lawyer at Border Solutions Law Group. Her practice focuses on Canadian immigration, including temporary and permanent residence, inadmissibility and enforcement matters, refugee protection, and citizenship. Called to the British Columbia bar in 2016, she assists clients with applications, complex refusals, and litigation under Canada’s immigration framework.

Before joining Border Solutions Law Group, Ms. Sidhu practised with a boutique immigration firm and appeared in a range of immigration and civil files, including Federal Court judicial review and British Columbia Supreme Court litigation. She has contributed to notable decisions such as Mutneja v Canada (Citizenship and Immigration) and has acted in complex personal injury cases, including Park v Donnelly and Harry v Powar. This background strengthens her approach to evidentiary issues, procedural fairness, and written advocacy in immigration cases.

As the leader of the firm’s Canadian Immigration practice, Ms. Sidhu maintains a significant focus on inadmissibility, misrepresentation, and enforcement issues. She also serves as a Tribunal Member with the Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal, an independent body that hears appeals on income and disability assistance and child care benefit decisions in British Columbia. In addition, she has taught undergraduate courses in law and immigration at the University of the Fraser Valley and Douglas College and has contributed to public legal education and policy-focused initiatives.

Clients value Ms. Sidhu’s clear, honest communication style and her meticulous preparation of evidence and written submissions. She is known for treating each matter with care, explaining realistic options and keeping clients informed from the first consultation through to resolution. Fluent in English and Punjabi, with intermediate Hindi, she regularly assists multi-generational families and newcomers who prefer to communicate in their own language.

Ms. Sidhu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology with Distinction from Simon Fraser University and a Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University. She enjoys travelling, dancing and spending time with family and friends outside of her practice.
