As Senior Partner at Border Solutions Law Group, Suraj Johal focuses his practice on U.S. immigration law and cross-border issues for clients in Vancouver, British Columbia and across Canada. Dual-licensed in both British Columbia and Washington State, he advises on a wide range of U.S. immigration matters for individuals, families, and businesses whose work and lives move between Canada and the United States.

Before joining Border Solutions Law Group, Mr. Johal gained significant experience in global mobility and corporate immigration with leading professional services firms. He has managed high-volume PERM programs and helped organizations ranging from Fortune 20 companies to sole proprietors navigate U.S. work visas, permanent residence and waivers, as well as complex, one-off matters for executives, professionals and entrepreneurs.

Clients appreciate Mr. Johal’s combination of deep technical knowledge and a practical, business-focused approach. As a second-generation immigrant and dual citizen who has lived in three countries, he understands firsthand how immigration decisions affect families, careers, and long-term plans. He is known for taking time to understand each client’s goals, explaining options in clear language, and preparing applications and supporting evidence with meticulous attention to detail.

Fluent in English and Punjabi, Mr. Johal frequently works with multi-generational families and closely held businesses that operate on both sides of the border. He is the leader of the U.S. immigration practice at Border Solutions Law Group.

Mr. Johal earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. He was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2015 and the Washington State Bar in 2014. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

In his free time, Mr. Johal volunteers at his daughter’s school and enjoys boxing, golf, and hockey.
